FAQ
Why should I buy an emergency backpack?
In the Netherlands, we almost always have electricity, water, and internet. But in an emergency, such as extreme weather, war, or a major outage, these can suddenly disappear. Help can then take a while. That's why it's wise to be well prepared. This requires action from everyone: the government, but also from you and your community. By preparing properly, you can help yourself and others when necessary. Getting an emergency backpack is the first step in staying ready.
How is Lifebag different from other survival kits?
1. Designed for real emergencies — not outdoor adventures
Most survival kits are built for hiking, camping, or mountaineering. As a result, they include outdoor-specific tools that are often useless in real urban or rural emergencies (such as compasses, saws, axes, or fire starters). Lifebag is designed for real-life emergency situations and focuses on protection, hygiene, and practical tools, aligned with official authority recommendations.
2. Real food and water for 72 hours
Many emergency backpacks on the market include little or no food and water — or quantities that are far from sufficient for 72 hours. Every Lifebag includes 3L of water (packed in practical 50 ml sachets) and 500 g of emergency rations divided into 9 portions, with a minimum shelf life of 5 years.
3. Space for what actually matters
Most emergency backpacks are small, low-quality, and leave no room for personal belongings. Lifebag is the only emergency kit that includes resealable waterproof bags and enough space for spare clothes, documents, medication, and personal items.
4. Clear instructions when it matters most
In an emergency, knowing what to do is just as important as having the right equipment. Every Lifebag includes five printed guides covering different emergency scenarios, with clear instructions for preparation, action, and recovery.
5. The first truly modular emergency kit
Lifebag is the first modular emergency system on the market. Thanks to the Booster, you can easily extend a Basic or Plus kit to cover a partner or an entire family—without duplicating unnecessary equipment. Each person carries their own backpack, so weight is distributed and everyone remains equipped even if the group gets separated.
6. Fully aligned with Dutch governmental recommendations
Lifebag Basic is the only kit on the market that fully complies with EU recommendations for a 72-hour emergency kit. Lifebag Plus is the most complete emergency kit available, with over 31 carefully selected components.
What is the difference between the Basic and Plus models?
The Plus version is designed for extra comfort and flexibility:
Larger, more comfortable, and better-organized backpack with additional space for personal items.
Enhanced equipment, including: knife, LifeStraw water filter, thermal emergency foil, radio & phone charger with dynamo, FFP3 mask, high-visibility adhesive tape, antibacterial liquid, rubber work gloves, and a lighter.
Do I have room for clothes in the Lifebag?
Yes! A change of clothes is essential in an emergency backpack.
Most products on the market are crammed into a small backpack, but LifeBags are designed to accommodate at least one full change of clothes. They even come with resealable bags to keep your clothes dry!
How often do expiring components in the LifeBag need to be replaced?
The water and food rations are packed in airtight pouches and have a shelf life of up to 5 years.
The batteries, glow sticks, and the first aid kit also have a 5-year shelf life.
If you add medications or other food items to the backpack, make sure to regularly check their expiration dates.
