Why we do this
A calm answer to an uncomfortable question
The Dutch government advises every household to be able to manage for at least 72 hours without help, power, running water or internet. Most of us have never thought about what that takes.
The kits we found were mostly made for hiking: compasses, saws and fire starters, with little food, little water and no room for your own things. We wanted a kit for a long power cut, a flood or an evacuation, that follows official advice and leaves space for medication, documents and clothes.

Practical
Every item has a job in the first 72 hours. If it belongs in a hiking pack but not in a household emergency, it is not in our kit.

We tell you what is in the bag and what is not. A kit is a start, so we also tell you what to add yourself, like medication, documents and cash.

Start with one kit and add a Booster for each extra person, without paying twice for the same tools. Everyone carries their own bag.
